Portraits from Forjando Huellas : Mayra Nicol

The Center Forjando Huellas is proud to present a series of protraits of the inspiring children who attend the center. Today, the story of Mayra Nicol.

I am 13 years old and live in the department of Tarija, I was born here on February 1, 2008. My mother’s and father’s names are Maritza and Edgar, they were born in Potosi, they are very good, and I have a good relationship with them.

I have two brothers, the oldest is named Richard and he is 21 years old and I have another younger sister named Jazmin and she is 11 years old. I get along very well with them, although sometimes I fight with my younger sister, we love each other very much.

I joined the Center Forjando Huellas when I was 8 years old, for me the Center is a place full of love, a place where we receive a lot of love and support. Despite being a small place, their way of teaching is great.

What I like about my school are the green areas, sharing with my classmates and learning from my teachers.

The happiest moment of my life was when they gave me the news that I was going to be an aunt, I was very excited because I love children.

The saddest moment was when I was discriminated because of my physical appearance, it is ugly to be discriminated, for them it is happiness, but they do not realize that they hurt us. Despite this, I thank the Lord for being in this world and I want to be an advocate for the people they hurt.

My big dream is to go to South Korea and meet my idols, people who inspire me. I want to meet them because they taught me many things, they taught me to love and accept myself as I am, they helped me to give meaning to my life and fight for my dreams.

When I grow up, I want to study architecture, to design houses to build.

Now I will dedicate myself to study harder every day, but I will not stop practicing drawing because I love it as much as mathematics.

I like animals, especially dogs, I made a lot of mischief with them, I have several pets at home. I am also a fan of the group Bts, it is a K-pop band, their songs are very beautiful.
