In 2009, the center Forjando Huellas arose from an initiative of the people of Tarija with a desire of social responsibility. The Center offers support to socially disadvantaged children and teenagers in order to prevent them from becoming street children and experiencing the dangers that this situation carries such as mistreatment, violence, exploitation, discrimination, school desertion, delinquency, etc.

In 2013, an agreement of cooperation between volunteers tarijeños and the president of the Asentamiento 26 de Agosto initiated the construction of the infrastructure in the mentioned zone.
Nowaday, the children receive at the center psychoeducational support from profesors, psychologists and social workers. They also benefit from a breakfast from monday to friday that gives them the energy to continue the day.
